If we go right onto Marine Parade and walk past the R-Bar, we arrive at another large LGBTQ+ bar and club at number 8: Charles Street Tap. Previously known as The Hungry Years, it had been Brighton’s hugely popular rock / metal venue when it was transformed in 2000. Although the interior has been remodelled now, it initially sported aunique raised ‘runway’ lit from below, that took you from the entrance area to the toilets and beer garden.
